Poetic Images Glimpse

Poetry is independent self-satisfied system of image sign when we see it as its thing-in-itself. And image is right a complexity contains the subjective emotion of poet and the objective reality.There are three angels of view from which we can probe into the generation of poetic imagery and the special psychological quality of appreciation. One of them is the innermost image which is developed from the emotional presentation conceived by the subjective feelings and experience; one of them is the outward image which is generated from the abstract implication reflected by objective existence; the last one is the mixture of inside image and out one, which is generated from the link-up between subject and object, from the objective subject, from the emotional object. This unitary mechanism, developed by imagery, mutually existing between subject and object, generates several aesthetical features, that is to say, the appreciation of the figure, the multi-pole quality of metaphor, the illusory quality of vacillation. And this makes the appreciation and elaboration on poetic imagery have particularly vast psychological space.Image is an emotional life that contains subjective and objective intension. Its constitution and selection in proper order made by the poet to the image is the last measure that demonstrates and confirms and standardizes the function of poetry. This thesis analyses the patterns of progress, abreast, contrast, radiation, converge, dislocation, superposition & juxtaposition and points out that these patterns are usually mutually laid up or done simultaneously.In art sign system, the features of poetic image, such as vague intension, self-expressive and fussy generation, entirety system, are clearly presented further. And the abundant aesthetical quality of image determines the multi-dimension and multi-layer of the function of image.Poetic imagery possesses the function of description, expression, symbolic signification .The synthetic function strengthens the ideographic quality and the constructive ability of image, incarnates the art rule that "reappearance correspond to expression", and provides the possibility for the creation and appreciation of poetic imagery.
