Vocational higher education is aimed to foster applied talents working in the front line of production. It is very important that vocational college students should improve their foreign language in order to read the foreign technological data skillfully, learn the world's advanced knowledge and technology in their own domain and receive the original training abroad . The first step of improving foreign language is to stimulate the motivation in language learning. For it decides whether the individuals are willing to fully bring out latent potentialities to study effectively. Only after their interest in learning foreign language is satisfied can they feel it significant to study and be willing to learn consequently and they can learn it well. Therefore, this paper is aimed to first investigate the vocational college students' motivation in learning foreign language by adopting questionnaires, interviews and observation ,and the following problems have been found to exist in vocational college students' nowadays English learning: l.They lack interest and confidence in English learning, belonging to instrumental motivation. 2. Low self-efficacy 3. Passive attitude. Then, the paper analyze the reasons which result in these problems as well as the influence. At last it put forward some measures to arouse vocational college students' motivation in English learning. It declares that students can make their English learning status improved and they can become active learners from passive learners as long as their motivational problems which result in success or failure of English learning are resolved.
