| The opera Qu Yuan is the last musical work of Shi Guangnan. As a role in the opera , Spirit of Mountain doesn't play a major part in the opera, since she sings only one aria ( the Song of Spirit of Mountain) and appears only in the form of shows within the show. But it deserves a full consideration and discussion how to create the image of Spirit of Mountain. This thesis thinks Spirit of Mountain in the opera Qu Yuan is a diversified figure as far as character and image are concerned. The creation of Spirit of Mountain should be true to Qu Yuan's Jiu Ge and meet the demand of the opera's plot as well ,and should accord with the cultural background of the Songs of Chu and rely on the actress's comprehension and treatment of the Song of Spirit of Mountain as well. To create the image of Spirit of Mountain ,the actress must balance elegance and vulgarity, emotion and reason, splendor and simplicity, mankind and god, renunciation and worldly cares. |
