Soushenji is a fiction story set in a collection of a variety of ghostly fantasy basedstories in ancient Wei and Jin Dynasties. It was rich in content, fantasy in plot andelegant in language. Its artistic achievements was supernatural second to none in the JinDynasty and it was the highest achievement of ancient mystery novels. It had a greatvalue on the later ideological and cultural studies in Wei and Jin Dynasties. Meanwhile,the "invention of Shinto is not framed", as the theme of the book, Soushenji did not juststop at the narrator. It also documented a number of legends about witchcraft activities,thus becoming one of the four ancient books about witch. Looking at the long history ofthe development of Chinese civilization, as a source of ideological and culturaldevelopment of China, Witch culture almost throughout the various stages of theChinese civilization. Despite after the Spring and Autumn, because of the awakening ofrationalism, witch culture gradually retreat from the mainstream culture of the altar, yetthe folk culture, the spirit of the Chinese nation and even the lives of the far-reachingimpact, becoming an integral part of Chinese culture important component. Until todayit still has a potential for ideological influence on our nation. Therefore, theinterpretation and research of Soushenji had important academic value and practicalsignificance from the perspective of Witch cultural.This paper attempted to sort and analyze the elements of Witch culture ofSoushenji, and explore the witch inherent cultural significance for the Wei and JinDynasties era and modern value in today’s society. From the point of view of Soushenji,Witch culture lay two points to Wei and Jin Dynasties: First, it not only opened theflourishing populations of mystery novels, provided psychological counselling channelsfor the innovation and development of future generations novels. More importantly, itprovided people a spiritual home under the separatist unrest which regime changefrequently. In a sense, to promote the emancipation of humanity and thought, providinga habitat whose mind is wandering helpless. While to the modern society, Soushenji hadbecome old, but the Witch culture kept in it could lead contemporary civilization. Somepositive thinking witchcraft contained in Soushenji has important guiding significancefor our contemporary society spiritual civilization. Witch culture, with its excellentideological connotations, not only brought the original ancestors the strength andconfidence to survive life, but also convey to future generations the descendants of positive life energy. It was closely linked to the Chinese people’s lifeblood, and becameour common cultural psychology.Through research methods of literature anthropology, literature, history, philosophyand other disciplines, based on literature text analysis and multi-exemplificationargumentation method, combined with the Soushenji specific examples, concluded thewitch cultural elements of Soushenji in-depth analysis, combed its overview in scientificmethod, and provided a useful reference for the value research of Soushenji.
