The Rise Of New Media Art In China And Evolution

The new media art in China in terms of research is similar to that of China's earlier oil painting. New media art originated in Europe and America, which has influenced its beginning in China by the way of conception and forms. Its rising and evolution are in large similar to the history of international new media art. Its recent ten-year development in China can be regarded as the basic enlightenment and system formation of China's early new media art.The main values of new media art in China lie in its Chinese subjects and the Chinese characteristics of video, which is embodied in the localization of conception and the evolution of self-subjects. But it is very primary in comparison with technical language and international criteria, this is because it lacks related support from the system.The study and research of new media art will promote the construction and development of literature, scholarship, education and system in China. It is one of the artistic directions in the 21^st century, and a quickly developing area in China's contemporary art. The new media art discussed in this paper mainly refers to video art.Upon systematic research of China's new media art, there are not more well-established references or predecessors for comparison and quotation, so the main task of this paper focuses on the basic concepts of new media art, its development, its features in texts and technology, its Chinese characteristics, as well as the definition of theory and concepts of new media art. This paper also tries to construct the first description, on which the systematic analysis and comments will be made. As for analytic method, new media art will be taken as a video text for analyzing its writing and video features.
