Chinese culture has a long history and is profound. The focus of attention in Chinese traditional culture is to observe and explore life, and the core of the problem of life is to construct the ideal personality. To create noble personality is the purpose of ancient Chinese thinker to research ethics problem and to concentrate on morality education. The core of Chinese traditional personality theory is to build up an ideal personality and to follow it as a model. The so-called ideal personality, being a perfect personality based on the needs of the era and an idealistic model of personality, is an important force for the people to perfect themselves in the process of transforming the world. By continuously choosing, approaching and amending, the people attain the ideal personality. For the people, to pursue ideal personality is just to pursue the value of life. Chinese traditional theory of ideal personality condenses from the traditional Confucian culture with Chinese characteristics, whose representative is the Confucian, Taoism and Buddhism, which have complete and systematic theoretical system in the immanent level, spiritual realm and achieve methods and have played an important role in development of the society, particularly in Chinese traditional moral theory. Although the theory of Chinese traditional ideal personality has its inevitable and obvious mistakes, it still has important values today. It is conducive to the people in establishing the moral principal awareness, reinforcing the moral values of self-control, inspiring the driving force to self-improvement and self-promotion, cultivating the enterprising and optimistic spirit to face the life and the society.China needs modernization and must be modernized. The first of China's modernization is the modernization of the person, which includes the conversion of many factors from traditional to modern and considers the liberation of the human personality and the establishment of the ideal personality as the startingpoint and the core. Chinese traditional personality is a ethical character with the ethic as the key standard, while the modern personality is a new type of character moral possessing of moral, intellectual, physical, and artistic elements, which develop harmoniously in it. Thus, in the process of modernization, the first thing to do is to change personality, namely to be guided by the Marxist ideal personality theory, to use the ancient Chinese ideal personality patterns for reference, to draw on the nutritional ingredients in the traditional ideal personality theory, to consider and examine the situation of modern personality using the distillation in traditional ideal personality theory and the new demands in the modern social development, to transform Chinese traditional ethical personality to modern personality, in the end to build a harmonious personality and to promote the comprehensive development of the person and the civilization of the society.
