Family novel is one of the most inclusive Chinese literary works with the strongest expressive force in the 20th century. The modern literature is just originated from family female topic, many famous writers such as Lu Xun , Ba Jin, Lao She, Zhang Ailing, Lin Yutang take their family novels to constitute the colorful modern family narrative landscape together.It is noticeable that families in the novels share the same decadent, declining and dying end, although the fictionists differ from each other on the personal viewpoints and narrative postures to the families. When the fictionists animadvert on the crime and molder of the families, most of them can't hide their love and pity towards the families. They emotionally regard the family as what they identify with and convert to. There is a profound contradiction concealed in the different attitude towards the family novels in the modern literature. That is to say, on one hand, the fictionists of this period can realize the weakness of the family's structure as well as the necessity of its disintegration; on the other hand, they can not attack and bid farewell to the family freely and easily. This emotional contradiction is interweaved together to form a family complex which is the base of the research in the thesis.The thesis is divided into the following three parts:Chapter One introduces performance and evolvement of modern writer's family complex. It divides three decades of the modern literature into three stages. In each stage, the author selects the representative writer to describe the complex performance and the emotional degree. In stating these families complex by three stages in the evolution process, the author will specifically explain the family complex and take the shed to the family culture manner which are separately concluded as the reason complex, the indignant complex, the yearning complex (also as the apathy). The thesis also outlines the evolution and features of the above types.Chapter Two lays the emphasis on the cultural inspection to the family complex production.
