At the end of the 1980s, we were getting into mass consumption society with gradually distinctive features. In the 1990s, the consumption culture developed strongly in China. The rise of the "Holiday Economy" and Xiao Kang living standard is enough to explain that we are indeed faced with a new life. There is no doubt that the consumption culture which is the key symbol of Chinese cultural transformation in the 1990s is also cultural background and realistic circumstances between "New Generation Painting " in the early 1990s and "Youth Cruel Painting " at the end of 1990s. Under the background of the consumption culture, therefore, analyzing the emotional expression of " New Generation Painting " and " Youth Cruel Painting " enables us to acknowledge actively the values and meanings of the art.The Part One of this article mainly discusses that the consumption culture has an effect on people' aesthetic pattern and aesthetic tendency and changes them after the appearance and development of China as well as gradually expanded consumption culture. From the angle of consumption culture, as well as the appearance and development of consumption ideology, by the analyses of mentally pointed to advancement of New Generation Painting and Later New Generation Painting , New Generation Painting describes the artists born in the 1960s when they tangled with consumption ideology had an attitude-Separation-to politics, and the Youth Cruel Painting of Later New Generation Painting describes the artists born in the 1970s had the sense ofinexplicable anxiety and hurt characterized by " Youth " when directly faced with consumption culture.The Part Two stresses mainly on the background resulted in the New Generation Painting and the striking traits of emotional expression of the New Generation Painting.On the Part Three of the article, it not only shows that the developed background of Later New Generation Painting from that of Youth Painting, but also shows that the Youth Cruel Painting of Later New Generation Painting reflects an emotional expression of self-anxiety and self-hurt via the turning term form the era of spiritual supremacy to the era of material consumption and popularity of mass culture.
