About The Borrowing Of Foreign Words

There are plenty of loanwords in Japanese and such language phenomenon tends to increase significantly in the near future. Therefore, they have a pretty big influence on Japanese itself.There have been few studies concerning semantic diversification in the former research of loanwords. In my point of views, there may be two reasons for this: one is that the semantic diversification is taken for granted, so it seems meaningless to do research on it; the other is that the semantic diversification is miscellaneous, so it is difficult to do research on it. However, according to my studies, it is necessary and appropriate to investigate this loanwords in Japanese. There is the truth for us to reveal behind taking for granted, and miscellaneousness deserves more analysis and exploration.This thesis consists of introduction, the main body and conclusion. The main body locates the loanwords in three areas of "life- human being -society" as research subjects based on the former research, analyzes the difference between the loanwords and the original phraseology, and give the reason how it come to being. Through the comparison, the thesis concludes thirteen hypogyny fact state of words meaning reduced, seven meaning broaden, and eight meaning totally different. The meaning shift of loanwords was analyzed from the perspective of language, society and cognition. The last part of this thesis foresees a tendency of the loanwords meaning change in the future.
