Chen Rung is an important realistic writer of Contemporary China. in 1980, thepublication of Human to Middle Age causes her to enjoy a good reputation in literary fields.Since then and for over the following decade, she's been constantly writing and making herown voice in the literary arena of Chinese new era.At present the academic research on Chen Rung's novels are not sufficient in China.Common teaching material of literature history often mixed her works in humanitarianismsubject terms. Even in some academic journals, the very few papers about Chen Rung's worksmostly pay more attention to her individual creative fiction, they seem not understanding thetheme works in-depth and not systematically describing her novels' academic appearance.People stressing the practical significance of her work, they don't make much summary andcriticism research about the creation technique, the artistic success and failure, It leavesbehind a blank for the contemporary literature research field. In general, the achievements of Chen Rung's works were primarily embodied in thenovels of 1980s -1990s , therefore, I define the research scope to the important work of ChenRung 's in this period, while the novels during the Great Cultural Revolution period aren't inappraisal scope of this paper. This paper follows the mentality novel subject -creation method-art disappointment to elaborate the academic appearance of her literature creation based onthe novel text and summarise the success experiences and failure lessons of her creationobjectively. The paper includes three sections. In the first section, I discuss the realistic andrationalistic spirit of her novel creation. Chen Rung's novels cared real world and lifeproblems. Many fields of the real world were unfolded by her writing. From different anglesof view, she discovered many realitic problems of social transition time. For example, thetreatment of intellectuals, marriage and family issues, the life of elderly people and thepsychological problems of people who experienced the Cultural Revolution. The writerthought about history, criticized reality, expressed her deep sense of responsibility andmission as an intellectual, showed strong realistic and rationalistic spirit ,the sincere feelingsof compassion and humanism. In the second section, I discussed the opening creative methodsof her realistic works. During Chinese New Time Chen Rung's works primarily maintainedrealism style, she created some typical characters by describing scenes and details, forexample, Lu Wenting, Li Shouchuan, Yang Zifeng, Qin Bo and so on, these characters are thetypical image of contemporary literature gallery. At the same time, Chen Rung kept heropening attitude to realistic methods. She tried to use modern methods of the West, such asflowing of consciousness, theatre method, symbol method, those helped to express the subjectaccurately. In the third section, I discussed the artistic disappointment of Chen Rung's works.Because of specific social background and limitation of her creation idea, Chen Rung's novelcreation has certain artistic disappointment. For example, there were too much socialproblems without enough artistic processing in her writing, which desalinated the literatureesthetic implication, the narrative way looks as if she was occupying a commanding positionmaking no equal relations between author and reader, moreover, masculine right centerconsciousness has appeared in her novels. These disappointments have made many readersespecially feminine readers estrange her works currently.Today, Chen Rung' realistic and rationalistic spirit inspired many people while thedisappointments of her novel art are acting as a mirror warning some writers who are workingon literature creation.
