Weapon in Pre-Qin period was made of crossbow and bow, fighting, protection. Field operations played a important role in war of whole Pre-Qin period, the key factor of win in field operations is close-distance fighting, so fighting weapon play a important role in field operations. Pre-Qin period is beginning period of metal fighting weapon, fighting weapon in this period was developing with chang of field operations style. The main fighting weapon in Pre-Qin period are ge, spear, long-body sword, halberd, pi, shu, battle-axe(fu,yue and qi) and sword, the main material is bronze. A large of iron weapon were made in the later period of Warring States.The earlist bronze ge was found in Erlitou Site. The change trend is from Non-hu ge to ge with hu, from ge with hu to ge with long hu and holes. The main methods to use ge are pushing, hooking, pecking and hacking. Ge is main weapon of chariot warrior, infantrymen used ge also.Bronze spear in shape of willow leaf was prevalent at early Shang Dynasty. Spear with double handles and spear with double holes was prevalent at later Shang Dynasty. There were little difference between later Shang Dynasty and early Western Zhou Dynasty. The body of spear became narrow in middle Western Dynasty. This trend continued in Spring and Autumn Period. Most bronze spears in Warring States Period had blood groove. The shape of spear in Eastern Zhou Dynasty were many and varied. Bronze long-body sword was a kind of weapon with special shape in later Shang Dynasty and early Western Zhou Dynasty, Mr.Gao divided it to 4 styles. The earlest bronze halberd in China was excavated in a tomb otf Shang Dynasty at Taixi Village, Gaocheng, Hebei Province. The whole-body-casting halberd was prevalent at Western Zhou Dynasty.
