| The prefaces and epilogues of the Ci collections are very important forms of our Ci theory criticism. This paper views the prefaces and epilogues as a whole. On the one hand, it intends to sort out their development history from a diachronic standpoint; on the other hand, through analyzing and evaluating certain prefaces and epilogues, it approaches different preface and epilogue writers' opinions on a same Ci subject and attempt to probe the influence and status of these varying opinions in the development of Ci.The first chapter will introduce the origin and development of the prefaces and epilogues, pointing out the outline of different phases. From the perspectives of the name and the origin of Ci, the second chapter is about the essence theory of Ci indicated by the prefaces and epilogues. Ci is a kind of changing art. And its development can be divided into two phases: from an integrated performing art for the acoustic and visual enjoyment to a kind of lyrical and metrical poetry with its special regulations on the meters and rhymes. The third chapter relates to the function theory of Ci in the prefaces and epilogues. Accompanying the change of its essence, the function of Ci transforms from communicating enjoyment to emotion expressing. Such change of function derives from the prescription of traditional poetry and ideology. |
