The Study Of The Novel Prefaces And Postscripts Of Ming & Qing Dynasty

Our classical novel theories have a national distinctive feature .A lot of them embodied in notes, novel comments, the prefaces and postscripts and so on. In the note novels the theories are scattered, but the novel comments and the prefaces and postscripts are central relatively. At present the predecessors' researches of novel comments are abundant, so a lot of scholars begin turning their attention to the prefaces and postscripts, and the importance to novel research has been already cognized gradually by the scholars. From the materials collected by myself I found that the scholars paid close attention to the prefaces and postscripts through three aspects as the following, the first are the novel functions, the second edition study value, and the last is expounding the fiction and the truth during the novel creation. No doubt the three aspects are very important in the novel prefaces and postscripts, but the others, for example, the novel creation and style characteristic, which are the core of the novel theories, have not been paid more attention. So in my thesis I pay more attention to the two points above.In view of the prefaces and postscripts are vast I only cut out Ming and Qing dynasties' novel prefaces and postscripts as the objects of my study, and I take a systematic discussion from four aspects.The first chapter is the novel essence of Ming and Qing dynasties' novel prefaces and postscripts, which contains the novel connotation and evolution. The second chapter is the novel function, which absorbs the achievements of predecessors, and on the foundation there are some new discoveries. The third chapter is novel creation, which elaborates three aspects such as the structure, innovation and model personalities. The fourth chapter is novel criticism. This chapter elaborates the poetry theories and the history theories of novel among the novel prefaces and postscripts, especially the poetic-taste, the artistic conception, and so on.This thesis summarized the theories of Ming and Qing dynasties' novel prefaces and postscripts from four aspects above in detail. It enriched the classical novel theory.
