Penglai Dialect Vocabulary Study

Situated at north-east of Shandong byland, Penglai stands opposite Dalian of Liaoning Province across the sea, and Penglai dialect plays an important role among Shandong-Liaoning region's official languages. While, on research of Penglai dialect and words of that, it is a great pity to both Shandong dialect and Shandong-liaoning region's official languages that there is no systematic description and analysis about Penglai dialect words .Responding to the current research on Penglai dialect words, we launched a practical words survey on residents of various age periods. Making reference of MODERN CHINESE DIALECT DICTIONARTs meaning classification and according to Penglai dialect's characteristics, we list 26 word groups on the word survey form, classifying the words before sorting out and making notes. In order for better understanding, we do our utmost to attach common dialogue sentences after the words. Dialect words that we have collected are 2604.This paper is divided into 4 chapters.In Chapter 1, we tell the pronunciation of Penglai dialect.In Chapter2,we analyse three aspects of Penglai dialect words-shape, pronunciation and meaning, with shape analysis conducted on the difference of syllable number, characters, and ways of word-forming between Penglai dialect and mandarin, pronunciation analysis on'zi'and 'zhe' pronunciation in Penglai dialect, meaning analysis on difference of word meaning, grammar meaning and hint meaning between the Penglai dialect and mandarin. Chapter3 is the words we have collected.The end chapter is our conclusion.
