"Conflict talk" is also be addressed as "adversative episode", "verbal discord" and "oppositional argument" etc. No matter what it is named, it actually refers to the verbal argument or disputing phenomenon that happens during people's interactions. From 1980s, this interesting language phenomenon began to draw the attention of the researchers who studied discourse analysis. Conflict talk is worth studying. Comparing to what has been done abroad, our study on it needs to get improved both in range and quality, and there are lots of things we can do about this topic.Using both description and explanation as our studying methods, we describe abundant materials in Chinese script meticulously not only from qualitative perspective but also from quantitative perspective. This paper explains how conflict talk is started, developed and what are the main resolutions. Meanwhile it expounds the construction of conflict talk and gives the relative interpretation from the pragmatics perspective. This paper is made up of five chapters.Chapter one is an introduction. In this part we introduce the purpose, significance, studying methods, contents of the paper, the language theories we use in this paper and we also present the current studying situation of the topic and explain the marks we use in the paper.In chapter two we discuss the modes of starting conflict talk. There are four modes basically. In frequency order, they are: expressives, expositives, directives, and inquiries. Each mode can be classified into various sub-modes. Take mode "expressives" for example, it concludes 8 sub-modes, such as mode "praises", "assertives" and "blames" etc. In detail, we have pattern "blame←→interrupt", "apology←→query" etc.In chapter three we discuss the modes of developing conflict talk. There are 10 modes of developing conflict talk. In frequency order, they are: all in one conversation, call in question and query, say no and avoid the topic, correct and express, illustrate the reason, hold each side's views firmly, state views openly, repeat and reproduce, filing abuses and...
