Nabokov is considered a classic post-modernist writer for his novel style, perfect narrative technique and unique style in language. While Lolita is the novel that demonstrates the great writer's artistic style more than any novel else, and therefore is considered a masterpiece of post-modernist literature. But the traditional access to Nabokov is the existing theories rather than the writer's own literary views and life experiences, which is essential to the understanding of his works. The thesis find its access from Nabokov's life experiences and his artistic views, then analyze his unique style as well as technique demonstrated in Lolita, and to show that the dazzling techniques is in fact different from the typical post-modernist ones in that the former exists in the writer own mind and is result of his own life experience and therefore serves the content, while the latter is no more than pure games. Nabokov's style is shown in three aspects: post-modernist, poetic, narrative. This application of irony, parody, meta-fiction as well as black humor embodied the writer's post-modernistic style. However, it is different from post-modernist novels in the understanding and essence of art. He does not believe the death of God or that of writer, a deep purpose underlines the novel. And when interpreting other works, the emphasis on the necessity of meaning is in contrast to the post-modernist games.
