'The Popular Culture', one of the most vigorous and advantageous dimensions in the aesthetic culture in modern society, obviously covers an unprecedented wide market and has been accepted by a large population. It's a unique trend which affects the society tremendously. But, presently, the Chinese academic society lags behind in the theoretic research of 'the Popular Culture'. Specifically speaking, people raise more questions in this area than they solve them. It is an academic responsibility and a social mission for an humanitarian worker to figure out how to effectively and genuinely communicate with 'the Popular Culture', how to guide it in a healthy way based on a good communication, and to work out new thoughts, necessary measures and methods in order to insure the culture's healthy development, which is the departure point of the theoretic research in this area.Pop music offers a shortcut to understand modern population culture. From the year 2001 to 2005, the popularity of the pop singer Jay Zhou became a cultural fashion among Chinese pop singers. Jay Zhou, a popular singer and a composer in current Taiwan, His fame embodies in many aspects such as the sale of his pop music CD, popularity ranking, awards winning both domestic and abroad, countless times of public singing, film and advertisement in which he participated, and his image-representiveship of world famous brands. With his long, wide and profound influence, and in contrast with the vigorousless Chinese pop music industry either in mainland China, Hongkong and Taiwan, Jay Zhou naturally became the most influential cultural phenomenon from 2001 to 2005. Undoubtedly, it is a case of an enriched real significance with respect to modern population culture research.Through the study of Jay Zhou, this article makes an analysis on the connection between Jay Zhou and Chinese traditional culture. What's more, the article also gives an explanation to Jay Zhou's comtemporarization of his personality, content, form, style of his works and the social effect he has made.
