Mr. Kang Youwei's book Extended double art collections is an important works of inscription in Qing dynasty, and It plays an important role in Chinese history of calligraphy. With the calligraphy background of later Qing dynasty, Mr. Kang holds on his spirit of political revolution and opinion which he praise stele while depreciate rubbings, and praise calligraphy of Wei dynasty while depreciate calligraphy of Tang dynasty. All these opinions play an important role in the history of calligraphy. His book was regarded as a key collection of the calligraphy in Qing dynasty. Extended double art collections still play an important role in Republic cf China. There are lots of comment articles about this book. Mr. Sha Menghai, Mr. Liu Xianxin, Zhu Dake, Ding Wenjun, Chen Kang ,Zhu Jia etc. are all made comments about his works. All these comments are based on an attitude of affirmation. These comments concentrate on the key contents and cover broad aspect with a clear attitude. Also these comments embody some sort of modernity and continuing of time. Some of the comments of the Republic of China have reasonable parts, but they have some limits. On how to deal with comments of the republic of china, I think that the following aspect should be payed more concern. A: The relationship of political theory and calligraphy theory. Anyone who holds on this aspect will find the root of the extreme attitude embodied in Extended double art collections and also holds on the essential of subject. B: pay more attention to the relation to the characteristics of the calligraphy development of the republic of china. Because the combination of steles and rubbings, the situation of avoiding achievements of Tang Dynasty, and the contradiction of the theory of Mr. Kang with his calligraphy practice, these are not part of the criticism of Kang's book, it also reinforce the criticism. Without no doubt, weather or not hold a right attitude on criticism not only plays an important role in the history of calligraphy but also hasrealistic significance.
