North Figure Collection Uighur "xuanzang Biography Vii Fragments

This dissertation is the study on the Ancient Uyghur documents Xuanzang Biography which has been collection in National Library of China. In this essay 9a-15a pages of the manuscript and notes, which offers a useful reference for researches of related issue. The , , and are three major Old Uyghur Buddist great importance on studying language, script, a valuable material to Turkologist. Although, It is the one of the very important manuscripts few reserches has been done on this manuscript except Geng Shi Min and Feng Jia Sheng.Xuangzang Biography was translated from Chinese in old Uyghur. But Uyghur language changed from time to time and Old Uyghur has great differences with Modern Uyghur in phonetics, lexicon and Grammar, and the writing system also charged. So, we can not use the manuscript directly. So, for the deeply and detailedly study of this manuscript. It is the first step (very important work) to transcribe and translate this manuscript.Scolar have different methods transcribing Old Uyghur manuscripts. In this dissertation the traditional Latin Alphabets which Turkologist accustomed to use are used translation are based on the precise reading andunderstanding of manuscripts and also refer the Chinese version. Because of Xuanzang Biography is the Buddist texts, It has many terms related to Buddhism. So, In this dissertation, writer gave a note to every Buddhist terms in this parts.This dissertation includes five parts: preface (includes purpose of the dissertation, introduction to the manuscript, researches on the manuscript); transcription, translation of 9a-15a pages of the manuscript, in the third chapter writer gave a note to every Buddhist terms(includes vocabulary of 9a-15a pages of the manuscript), appendix(including information about Xuanzang, Xuanzang Biography and Old Uyghur language translator Singqu Sali Tutung); reference(This reference book is very useful to our study).In brief, in this dissertation writer proceeded transcription, translation comment for the 9a-15a pages of the manuscript.
