In modern times, with the wake of the invasion of western powers, an endless stream of foreign goods and capital poured into China, which seriously shook the foundation of self-sufficient economy in feudal society. Affected by foreign economic impact of the capitalist mode of production and commodities, China began a process of modern business. In the years of emperors TongZhi and GuangXus' reign (1861-1908) in Qing dynasty, China entered a large-scale development stage on capitalist industry and business. The modern features of Beijing became more and more obvious. Because of the transformation from feudal economy to a semi-colonial and semi-feudal economic system, Beijing's business started modernizing eventually, at the same time, its commercial culture had been given some new contents and unique features that were completely different from any time in the past.Beijing was known as a typical urban-consumer city in history, the development of its commercial culture has a strong representation for all over China. The first part of this Text is about the traditional business culture of Beijing before modern times. And then , it's continued with how its business culture had been developed during the late Qing dynasty. The last part is emphasized by talking about the contents and characteristics of Beijing's business culture between the reigns of emperors TongZhi and GuangXu. This article makes a further clarification for the transition process of Beijing's business culture in modern times.The theme of this study has been highlighted by comparing the differences of the traditional business culture with the modern one, and stressed by the track of the historical evolution and overall development of Beijing's business culture as well. In addition, it helps us to understand further about the modernization of Beijing city and also has a great significance for today's business culture-building project.
