Robert Schumann, the standard-bearer of European Romanticism music, was the most outstanding in German music history in the first fifty years of 19th century. Schumann was not only a composer, but also an excellent music critic and writer ,known as "Leader of German Romanticism music." This paper tried to master Schumann's music style and creation opinion and analyzed deeply Schumann's piano cycle playing by the study of the playing of his piano cycle The Childhood Scene.The paper has four chapters.Chapter One introduces the features of the times of Romanticism. The purpose is to know deeply and specifically the cultural connotation of Schumann's works by knowing the background at that time (including German cultural tradition , Romanticism literature and the development of piano-making technique then).Chapter Two introduces Schumann's life and the creation background of The Childhood Scene, and mainly introduces Schumann's creation course of literature.Chapter Three analyzes the creation features of the whole cycle and explains the works at the technique level, in order to master the creation features of the works clearly and completely.Chapter Four analyzes the thirteen ditties' from, harmony and playing, and tries the different composition method of the thirteen ditties in teaching. The purpose is to know Schumann's creation intention and the expressed feeling specifically, and to train effectively.The piano cycle The Children Scene, created in 1838, was Schumann's unique works. He richened greatly the piano's expression techniques by various music images and stood the line of the greatest piano masters. His works was full of passion and poetic mood, whose style was flexible and free. The playing techniques of Romanticism piano works were always difficult. But Schumann's The Childhood Scene "contained lofty ,mysterious and profound significance by simple technique," which had built a bridge to know Romanticism music for the players of low level, was a rare piece of music and was often used to teach.
