By investigating and analyzing the status quo of basic teaching in the Central Academy of Drama and the Shanghai Theatre Academy, the writer believes: 1) In both schools, the main theoretical basis for teaching is the Stanislavsky system and its actor training principles, which stick to realism. 2) During the first year's'basic training stage', the relationship between class games and elements should be correctly treated; practice without real settings is one of the very effective methods for element comprehensive training; element training and real organic stage movement training should be closely linked. 3) The two schools have different teaching philosophy and methodology during the'fragment training period'. Especially, they have different understandings to'novel adaptation fragment'. 4)'2nd Classroom'study shall be strengthened; knowledge of human studies and other arts should be increased; and'Campus Theater'shall be greatly supported.
