As the landmark of English contemporary theatre,Look Back in Anger was much different from the middle-class theatre in terms of theatre character and style in the mid fifties.The play had a galvanizing effect on a generation of young playwrights who were encouraged to write for working-class people.Besides Look Back in Anger,this analysis focuses on Wesker's The Kitchen,Roots and Bond's Saved,exploring the inner anxiety of the characters and through which the social and political environment at that time.Moreover,this paper also refers to the changing character and some new messages of lower-class people in English theatre after the sixties. |
