Xiong Foxi, Ouyang yuqian, Tian Han and Hong Shen are the pioneers of Chinese modern drama movements. In many aspects such as drama writing, directing, researching into drama theories and promoting the drama movement, to which Xiong Foxi has made a great contributions. However, the most important achievement he has made for the next generation is being an outstanding educator of drama. In his youth, Xiong Foxi swore to"contribute his whole life to drama, and to develop the traditional Chinese drama". Since he came back from America in 1926 and took the position as the chair of Drama Department of National Art School of Beijing , he strictly abided by his promise to awake the public, transform the society and rejuvenate china through the approach of drama. From 26 to 65 years old, he devoted all his energy into drama education. It is hard in china to find such an outstanding drama educator beyond him. Xiong Foxi's dramatic career, covering a large area, lasted for a very long time, during which he trained and brought up a lot of drama talents. His rich experience has devoted to constructing valuable dramatic theories.This thesis focuses on Xiong Foxi's drama education activities in three periods: From 1926 to 1932, the period when he was the chair of Drama Department, National Art School of Beijing and Drama Department, Art School, National University of Beiping; From 1938 to 1941, the period when he set up the Drama School of Sichuan Province; and the period from 1946 to 1965, when he was the head master or the dean of Shanghai City Experimental Drama School, Shanghai City Drama Training School, the East China Branch Campus of Central Drama College and Shanghai Theatre Academy. During these three different historical periods, especially from setting up Drama School of Sichuan Province to being the chair of Shanghai Theatre Academy, Xiong Foxi devoted the latter half of his life to education, for which he made a great contribution to Chinese drama education. By studying these three periods, we could explore Xiong Foxi's thoughts on drama education, which would provide valuable guidance to nowadays'drama development.
