Vladimir Nabokov (1899 - 1977) is one of the most important writers in the 20th century. The writing quantity in his lifetime is very abundant, including 17 novels, 400 poetries, more than 50 short stories, as well as dramas and translations, which have a substantial contribution to Russian literature and English literature. Studying on him and his works is a perpetuate research thesis in Euro-American literature field, which attracts multitudinous scholar's interests. Those academic institutes, periodicals and websites which take him as the special research object continuously maintain the exuberant vitality and innovative spirit. But in China, studies on him are still on a preliminary stage. It all waits for the development both on the breadth and the depth. This thesis sets out from the relations between his time viewpoint, literature viewpoint and his attitude to the reality. The aim of this thesis is to analyze and give a comprehensive understanding of the realistic appearance in his novel on the base of comprehending his works.The life of Nabokov is legendary. After the Russian October Revolution, he left his own motherland and began to exile. In his long exiled life, he had undergone too many vicissitudes which made him to pursuit and think deeply and at last express them in the novel world. It was his exiled life, the huge contrast between the childhood and the grown-up and the collision during different race cultural that formed his unique literature conception gradually. From some opinions in his lectures on literature, interview transcription and autobiography, We may know about his time idea and literature idea, which have the closed and direct relation with his understanding and expressing of the reality.Nabokov's understanding and exploration of the time is a important subject through his life and creation, which has had the comprehensive and profound influence upon his thought and the works. Nonlinear time experience and the famous view of the time prison come flora his experience of exile and the influence of the predecessor's just as Proust and Bergson. The influence of his time idea on the reality is mainly showed in the memory. Memory is just the key which opens the door of identifying the realistic appearance in his novels. The memory and the subjective sensation bring the time which the characters lose back to the present. That persons in exile who are never able to arrive, who are stranded in the time, and who can comprehend the true meaning of time, respectively use their own experience to explain how the memory affects on the reality in the literary.Nabokov considers the outstanding novel as the myth story, which emphasizes the fiction and imagination in the artistic world. In his viewpoints on fiction, the great writers are all the magician who should have the magic of the creative imagination as well as the ability of deceit and camouflage. At the same time, Nabokov thinks the literary should pursue the complex and confused effect. Therefore in his novels, one hand, he adopts the way of writting to rewrite the life has been defined. On the other hand, using the skills of parody and peculiar point of view, he weaves a piece of singular artistic space and makes the confused effect. In this space, the character freely displays their own subjective consciousness. The reader fully experiences the fictitious ness and indeterminacy of the reality, as well as the author's overturning and taunting to the traditional novel's proposition of the reality.For Nabokov, what a real novelist has created in the novel is a unique world, and in which he reappearances the reality magically with the memory and imagination. Moreover, the reality will be transformed into the artistic reality which is out of time control. In the spiritual experience based on the self-awareness, the writer has also achieved the aim of surmounting to the real life.
