English is the third language to the minority bachelors who accept bilingual education, excepting mother tongue and Chinese. Those students feel more difficult because of the complexity of language and mind convention, being short of multi-language teaching staff and the difference of teaching material. Thus it's necessary to make some research to the obstacles they met in English study and afford some reference to the educational principle and practice.The Central University for Nationalities gets great prestige in the field of minority educational. Students in Kazakhstan language and literature department of this university accept bilingual education for a long time, so the obstacles they met during English study are typical. Therefore the thesis makes some investigation and research on the teaching staff and students in Kazakhstan language and literature department of The Central University for Nationalities by the ways of document collect, send and receive questionnaire, classroom survey, thoroughly interview etc.It is found the study obstacles during the English study stem from various reasons. Among them, the lack of teaching staff, taking Chinese as major teaching language and tedious teaching mode is the biggest outer obstacle during the process of English study. In addition to that, superficial study motive, inferior self-study ability and method is the major inner obstacle. Based on the above mentioned investigation,corresponding suggestions are made," (1) improve the students' Chinese, taking Chinese as major intermediary teaching language and mother tongue auxiliary tool. (2) Update educational ideas and improve teaching method which mainly develop teachers' tutorial function and students' self-study ability. (3) Improve English testing system and set suitable standard. (4) Put emphasis on the English teaching research under multi-lingual and multi-cultural background.Compared with existing research, the author of this thesis spares no effort to make some breakthrough : (1) Investigate and analysis obstacles the minority bachelors met in the process of English study via various researching ways more comprehensively and more objectively. (2) Focus on problems put forward during the process of research, the paper not only makes some suggestion on adding teaching term, updating educational principles, improving teaching method and enhancing teaching research under relative background, but also emphasizes the principles on cultivating students' study ability and improve testing system.
