This paper conducts a relatively thorough exploration and research into place names in Han Seal, important unearthed materials in the history of the development of Chinese language. It is divided into two chapters in addition to Introduction part.The first chapter with four parts explores the place names. Part one is the categorization and introduction of place names of Han Seal, describing and briefing the common 987 ones per their administrative districts. Part two is a review of the wording of the place names. It gathers and analyses the wording from the perspective of general words and evolvement of fonts and through contrast in materials regarding related place names in archives. Part three is an exploration into the naming of place names. Through the analysis of the structure of place names, the author tries to consider it as a cultural phenomenon, reflecting people's way of thought, mindset and national characteristics and social mores. Part four is discussion and speculation of which the place names in Han Seal indicate the wording mistakes in archives' place names and which the meaning of the character "唯" in Han Seal.The second part is the dictionary of place names of Han Seal. It explains 987 place names in Han Seal and makes a contrast against the historical books.
