In Sunitezuoqi, Place Names Study

Geographical Names, as the name implies, refers to the various geographical entities by name. Geographical Names is a product of history and it changes with the development of history. Toponymy has close relations with linguistics, geography, history, ethnic studies and social sciences. It is an independent and important branch of the school of Sociology. On the basis of establishing names database in Sonid Left Banner, the thesis explores some of the naming features and structural characteristics, for the purpose of providing some useful information for the research of the characteristics of Mongolia Geographical Names.There are five parts in this thesis, including Introduction, The First Chapter, The Second Chapter, Conclusion, and Appendix.The Introduction part is mainly about the profiles, the situation of study for Geographical Names, the reasons for topic choosing, research methods and the content of names database in Sonid Left Banner.The first chapter mainly deals with the characteristics of geographical naming features of Sonid Left Banner including color, number, characteristics, related things, location and the naming to the subjective desire and history religious events. The six sections in this part are mainly used to explain the basic geographical naming features in Sonid Left Banner.The second chapter mainly deals with the structural characteristics of the Geographical Names in Sonid Left Banner. Taking the number of words as the standard, Geographical Names in Sonid Left Banner can be divided into words, the two words, three words of the above names, in order to analyze and explain the words structure and groups of features of Geographical Names in Sonid Left Banner.In the part of conclusion, the naming characteristics of the similar things in Geographical Names structure are reached.The bibliography of the thesis can just be found in the appendix part.
