Song Of The Soul

Sergri Vassilievitch Rachmaninoff(1873-1943)is one of the Most prominent Russia composers , pianists, and conductors in the late Romantic age. He composed over 88 pieces of lieder , which occupied a significant position in all his musical works. In this thesis, Rachmaninoff's life experices is presented , His temperament trait and the styles in his early, middle, and Late periods of lieder's composing are expounded. Additionally , Eight pieces of lieder, which are the most typical in his different Stages, are taken as examples to analyse the composing background, the lyrics translation, the musical body, and the singing characteristics. Through these analyses, Rachmaninoff's contribution to Russia lieder, and the lieder's value in vocal Teaching and singing are objectively estimated.
