Liu Zongyuan was the Tang Dynasty remarkable statesman, the thinker and the writer. He long ago positively participated in Wang shuwen group's political innovation movement and preliminary studied some social questions at that time in China. After political activity defeat, Liu Zongyuan in desolate relegates, Yongzhou and Liuzhou, has created massive prose, which expressed the deep mourning to the innovation defeat. He has conducted widespread and the profound research to China's long history and the current society, which caused him to stand in that time culture development front end. The political nature passes through a Liu Zongyuan's nearly all creations red line, may say he was a typical politics writer. This article namely takes Liu Zongyuan's political prose as the research object. This covers his political prose of traditional significance, namely the prose which research politics theory and directly comment on political events and figures, also includes the prose full of the feelings about his political ideal and dismay. This article is divided into three chapters: First chapter discusses the power with which Liu Zongyuan positively participated in government and the political tragedy's influence on his creations; second chapter analyzes its political prose's content: analysis of his political theory that surpasses predecessor's place, his commentary contemporary on political events and figures, and excavating the political metaphor from his epic poem, scenery poem as well as the fable; third chapter briefly analyzes the artistic style of Liu Zongyuan's political prose. The paper finally appraises the creation achievement of Liu Zongyuan's political prose from the whole.
