This article discusses the design conditions and factors through the depiction of the evolvement and development of tea appliances during the Weijin, Tang, and Song dynasties. "Teas have its own taste and meaning, tea set designs have their own principles", the designs of tea sets have to satisfy both the functional aspects and the aesthetic aspects. Moreover, the design itself should "adapt" to changes in taste. The change in design differentiates the tea customs, living styles, society's development, and aesthetic trend at each particular time period.The body of this article is mainly composed of three parts: 1. Exploring the evolvement of design characteristics of teacup and tea calyx from Weijin, Tang, and Song dynasty. In addition, derives out the cause of these changes and analyze from these causes. 2. Focuses on the function, shape, decoration, and color of teacups and tea calyxes, and studies factors that produces the transition in design. 3. Discusses the conditions and factors that design is influenced by. For example, factors such as living style, humanity background, and aesthetic value trend.Lastly, the conclusion points out what these designs reveals to the people: 1. Explaining the past and acknowledging the present will reveal and assist us in contemporary design concept. 2. Even though we have much dissimilarity with the ancients, such as living style, aesthetic trend, humanity background and productivity status, we all long for a beautiful life and also unique designs styles. Furthermore, our way of thinking and the changing pattern in design are correlated. 3. Therefore, the evolution and development of design have to suit the era's aesthetic trend, and is thus influenced by the living style and humanity background, as it reflects the era's characteristics and people's quest for beauty.The main investigation method this article uses is: analyzing images, contrasting utensil used at different time periods, and integrating both analysis and investigation.
