The traditional family ethics exists in China for more than 2,000 years, which is fiercely attacked till the modern age. The May 4 New Culture Movement made a vehement attack on the traditional family ethics in all directions, which can be described to be able to cleanse everything. This kind of attack has a close contact with the problem of women liberations. Enlightened by the pioneers, a part of the educated females who accepted the baptism of the May 4 new trend of thoughts, took the lead in awakening. Encouraged by the advanced thoughts, they stepped on a road of fights with the traditional family ethical morality for the female's character liberation and personality independence, facing the tide of time, became pioneers of one generation.This text mainly refreshes the novel creations of the women writers during the May 4 period, such as Bing Xin, Lu Yin etc, to inquire the special thought value of their novel creations from four aspects, which are 'order of parents, promise of matching', 'man, god of woman', 'starving, a small thing; losing honor, a big matter', 'none of the parents are faulty'. The May 4 women writers criticized the traditional family ethics, as well as inherited some valuable points. But at the same time, they expressed their own views on modern family ethics. The most important thing is that they put forward a question to people that how males and females can be equal and get along with each other harmoniously. The May 4 period was a time that everyone wanted character liberation and personality independence. The May 4 women writers made all kinds of efforts and attempts to break through the traditional family ethics, to seek for the real value of females' life, to get along with the males equally and harmoniously. And these efforts and attempts added fuel and the flames to the women's liberation movements at that time and later, which provide guide as well. Their novel creations opened up the subjects and styles of the novels during the May 4 period, which enriched the contents of Chinese literature as well. At the same time, it serves as a mirror to the latter generations and helps them to have a better understanding of the May 4 period, an exciting period of time.
