Pipa as one of the most popular chinese traditional musical instruments, has been existed for more than twenty centuries in China. Pipa has its own distinguished technique and variated tone color. The purpose of this essay is to analyz and study the contemporary Pipa performance technique, instrument improvments, and the valuable sound projections based upon the Pipa's history. The methodology of the study is to emphasize the transformation of the instrument development, the reformation of the performance technique, and the historic background of the Pipa performance practice. |
