Higuchi Leaf Struggle Consciousness And Awareness, Of Compromise

Higuchi Ichiyo was the most famous female writer in the period of Mingzhi in Japan. As a member living in such a period, she could neither rid herself of the old period, nor avoid being influenced by the new period. Therefore, we can see not only the disappearing compromise consciousness with the feudal ideas, but the resistance consciousness about ridding herself of the feudal ideas in the old period and being after the women's liberation, which grew up in the new period. With the change of her life, the resistance consciousness in her thought was rising while compromise consciousness was falling. This was also reflected in her writings in which the female images with that kind of tender-hearted, grieved, but thought-provoking temperament of resistance or compromise came into being.
