Brahms was the topping representative of German music and culture in thesecond half of the nineteen century. His times was the middle and late period ofromanticism, and in that times, classicalism music spirit had faded out of people's lives,the extremeness individualism tendency has come forth in the tide of musicdevelopment. In that situation, Brahms insisted on classicalism music spirit, and writingon the attitude of intellect. His works shows some differences from the commonbecause he was going with times instead of scholasticism. In this paper, the time'scharacteristics is introduced firstly, all Brahms's life and his spirit are summarized, andhis representative works in all music field is listed. Secondly, by the analysis of classicalpiano solo music, the music characteristics of his works is explored. Finally, his rising fminor the second piano sonata is analyzed concretely from the aspect of piano educationand performance, in order that the players can do better in performing the style andspirit of his works.
