Jungian Personality Type Theory Exploratory Study, Family Cohesion And Adaptability

Everyone is different. Personality is used to describe the difference by psychologist. In a family, this kind of difference also exists. In C.G.Jung's type theory, the difference behind human's behaviors is not occasional, it is decided by everyone's personality type. On the basis of the Jung's theory, people developed many kinds of personality inventory. One of them is the MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator personality inventory),it is widely used in foreign countries. Now, MBTI becomes one of the most widely used measureing instruments and be used in counseling and psychotherapy,career counseling,marital counseling and other fields.There is more than 30 millions people received the type analysis of MBTI since 1975.MBTI assumes personality is a dynamic interaction, which consists of attitude preference and psychological function. A person's personality will not change in his (her) whole life. In a family,the differences between father, mother and child make a lot of conflicts.A child which has a different type may be misunderstand and not be liked by his(her) parents. Foreign studies emphasized particularly on clinic family counseling and psychotherapy about the differences between father-mother-child,but the demonstrated research is not been found.The research tries to achieve two aims: the first aim is to have an exploring demonstration on attitude peference difference between father,mother and child. Through the study,we want to know if there is some correlation between child's dissatisfaction point value of intimacy and adaptability in the family and the type difference of father,mother and child; the second aim is that if the difference exists, we want to find the dimensions.The conclusions we acquired are: 1. There is significant difference between the gender and thinking-feeling dimension. The accounts of female who prefer feeling is more than male.2. The research shows the factors incluing gender,to be the only child of one couple or not, the watcher is mother or both mother and father don't affect the child's dissatisfaction point value of intimacy and adaptability in the family.3. On the E-I attitude prefrence of father,mother and child,there is no significant difference to the child's dissatisfaction point value of adaptability in the family;but to the child's dissatisfaction point value of intimacy, there is significant difference. Because more cooperation and communication are needed in family's intimacy, it seems exist more difficulty to introverted children. The situation is more obvious when father-child are both introverted,or mother is extroverted and child is introverted.4.Onthe J-P attitudeprefrence of father, mother and child,there is no significant difference to the child's dissatisfaction point value of intimacy in the family;but to the child's dissatisfaction point value of adaptability, there is significant difference. Because in family's adaptability point value, the problem solving and the assignment of task in a family need the member has participation and judgement,it seems more advantageous to to judging preference children. The situation is more obvious when father-child, mother-child are both judging preference or mother-child is P-J preference.
