In recent years, a considerable number of artworks which use cartoon images as a visual style were shown in a lot of exhibitions. Statistics show that most of the artists who use this cartoon style were born after the 70s. They are the generation grown in mass culture and cartoon culture. They make their creations in various forms including easel painting, sculpture, installation, multi-media etc. The forms and the spirits of these works reflect the impacts the Japanese cartoon culture have on them. The sudden appearance and groom of this 'after the 70s' cartoon style trends in China reminds us the American POP ART in the 60s and the Japanese NEO POP in the 90s. Starting from the analysis of the 'after 70s' cartoon style trends phenomenon, this paper studies the relationship between the character of the 'after the 70s' and the cartoon style trends, the impacts the Japanese cartoon culture have on this trends and the history of the combination of cartoon and art.
