The data are obtained through various channels, like visiting and interviewing him in person, and referring to historical record. This paper falls into four parts as follows:Part 1 is the generalized statements about Cheng Wujia's musical life. This part recalls chronologically and generalizes about his earlier years of musical life, his musical experience as a wanderer and his efforts as a art - garden.Part 2 is about his reform in lute performing. The paper expounds on his reform in lute playing, and makes some personal comments on the influence and significance of lute.Part 3 discusses Cheng Wujia's lute performing styles and features and some relevant issues concerning lute teaching and learning as well.Part 4 is devoted to his music works and music features.
