Premchand is a famous writer of modern Indian literature who enjoys the reputation of "King of the novel" in India because of his outstanding achievements in the novel. His works make pround influence on modern Indian literature. Female images occupied a very important position in his novels. They have distinct characters and their own characteristics. These characters reflect the Indian women's basic living conditions and the unique concept of women of Premchand. On the one hand, he is very sympathetic to women and hopes that they have an independent life; on the other hand, he expressed the hope that women have some characteristics, such as tolerance, patience, obedience and loyalty. Both of these constitute his thinking of the inherent contradictions. The influence of Indian tradition, the entrance of western civilization, his personal experience and so on are all the reasons. This unique concept of women is one part of Premchand's creative thinking. So we must understand his views on women if we want to understand him and his creation.So, this article focuse on the women images of Premchand's novels and make use of the Feminist Criticism, the Psychoanalysis etc. to analyse and research his view on women, and try to understand the women images in his novels deeply and the secret in his inner world.
