Benjamin Consumer Culture Thought

Consumption has become a necessary part of the life of modern people. As social development and technological progress, consumer culture as a new cultural phenomenon brings a tremendous impact on the modern human socio-economic and cultural development. In this paper, consumer culture means the various consumption-related factors comprehensive Which is created by human, including both the conduct of the relevant part of culture in human consumption, but also the specific excist of culture in the field of consumption.And Benjamin's theory and works contains many unique thinking on the consumer culture. In this paper, from the vision of consumer culture and perspective, starting Benjamin related works, in accordance with art production and art consumption, the recession of the arts "aura", the changes from the value of worship to the value of demonstrate ,mechanical reproduction technology development bring a series of new arts and cultural phenomena, and the development of consumer goods ,at all levels, we make a specific search, combing and analysis of Benjamin's thinking of consumer culture.we also put them on our current situation of the consumer culture 's unprecedented prosperity in contrast to prove. The depth study and explore of Benjamin 's thnking of consumer,has a great realistic significance and reference value on judgement and assessment of China's current social and cultural status.In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this papers is divided into four sections. In the first chapter,it focused on the definition and connotations of consumer culture ,and the connection between Benjamin's tinking and the consumption culture.It also discussed in detail of Benjamin's thinking on the art production and art consumption under influence of the classic Marxist.The second chapter of the paper, from the point of view of consumer culture on the Benjamin famous mechanical reproduction technology theory,elaborated on his concern in all aspects of consumer culture,such as replication technology, the mass media, image culture, the visual arts, and cultural industries.In the third chapter, from the vision of consumer culture ,it studed Benjamin's thinking of consumer goods explained in his works, inspected the new business models and a change in the way of human consumption Which is brought about by the development of the capitalist commodity consumption. Chapter IV , based on the full text of the paper's exposition ,studed the impact and contemporary significance of Benjamin's thinking of consumer culture,and pondered the enlightenment of the context of our contemporary artistic under the current consumer culture.
