It has been more than 1000 years since 988 when Kiev Roth accepted Orthodox Church as the state religion. During the long and tortuous process, as an important part of Russian traditional culture, Orthodox Church is closely related with the country, nations, and the national thoughts, which play a very essential role in the development of Russia. Therefore, in order to understand Russian literature works accurately and completely, it is necessary to analyze them from the perspective of religious culture. If we abandon the religious features, we cannot understand Russian literature in a deeper sense.Uhlitz Kaja has become a very influential female writer in Russia. In her work Medea and Her Children a new image of Medea is created. Uhlitz Kaja expresses her thoughts about Russia, the society and the life by means of creating a traditional Russian women Medea. From the details of Medea's life, we may find the abundant religious connotations. And in Medea's charateristics lie the dense Russian tradition and its national spirit. The thesis starts by adopting the religious philosophical ideas, this thesis takes the image of Medea in the work《Medea and Her Children》as the study object.
