As the winner of 2005 Nobel Prize for Literature, Harold Pinter is considered as one of the greatest English playwrights in the 20th century and the heavyweight character of contemporary theatrical world. His works just like a prophecy of the human situation. The human scorch, suspicion and estrangement, powers and violence are concerned at his works. They manifest the helplessness, loneliness and isolation of modern people.This paper primarily consists of five parts. The first part is summary and the last part is conclusion. The main structure of the paper includes Chapterâ…¡to Chapter IV.As the Chapterâ…¡, the main task of the thesis focuses on the menace of the spatial experience and the content of domination. This chapter interprets the meaning of spatial experience, which can be divided into physical space and social space, and is discussed in two aspects. First use the Room image to analyze the authority relations and cultural tokens in the physical space. Second use the latent pattern of'vagrancy and homecoming'to analyze the spatial scorch and menace in the social space.Through losing and searching identity, Chapterâ…¢explains the choice and resistance his characters to make to win the meanings of their own existence in the modern society. Therefore, the cause of uncertainty identity is presented first in the chapter. The second part focuses on analyzing the power conflict between men and women. The female characters act as an important part in winning the meanings of the human beings existence.As the Chapter IV, the main task of the thesis focuses on the comedy of menace. Through analyzing the comedy forms and language, this part shows the absurd situation, the fear and the psychic trauma of human beings.The innovation of this dissertation is launching the exploring of spatial experience and control, and the deletion and searching identity, and language and jocks of the comedy of menace, which is aiming to make it clear what choice and resistance his character to make to win the meanings of their own existence in the situation of ambiguity, and the exertion the playwright to put out to diagnose the epidemic fear in the modern society.
