On Harold Pinter's “Threat Comedy”

Harold Pinter is the winner of Nobel Prize in 2005,he is the most distinguished dramatist in England in the last half twentieth century.Pinter's "Comedy of Menace" is unique in the world literature,exploring his theory of theatre of "Comedy of Menace" is crucial for understanding the significance of Pinter's plays and his status and effect in the history of literary.This paper discusses the relevant of Pinter and the creative practice of Pinter,and the discuss the theory of theatre of "Comedy of Menace" from three different ways:the definition of his drama,the nature of his drama,the features of his drama and the writing ways of his drama.This paper consists three parts:the introduction,main body and the conclusion.The introduction part focuses on the literary status of Pinter 's "Comedy of Menace" and the research in the world.In our country,the current research mainly concentrated in the early and mid-term of Pinter's drama,the direction of the research is diverse but pay insufficient attention to hot spots.Based on this,this paper will extend the scope of the study to the late stage of the Pinter 's drama,and tap the neglected essay speech and interviews,reseach the theory of theater of Comedy of Menace in the scope of "Pinter Talk about Pinter".The main body has four chapters.The first chapter explains two core concepts:the theory of theatre and "Comedy of Menace",then discuss the main meaning of the theory of theatre of "Comedy of Menace",and lay the foundation for sub-section discusses the subject.The first section talk about the meaning of comedy and menace.The second section talk about the meaning of the theory of theater of Comedy of Menace and its scientific and applicable scope.The second chapter deals with the positioning of Pinter's theatrical nature.The first section interpretate the theory of menace scenarios of Pinter.Pinter thinks the essence of "Comedy of Menace" is the "menace scenarios".The second section focus on the classification.In his dramatic creation practice,the menace scenarios can be divided into a person to a person,a organization(or family)to a person and the state to a organization(or family).The second section analyzes that how to use a combination of space-time environment and the actual situation,the menaceening intruder and a simmering power struggle these three elements to frame the menace scenarios.The third chapter describes the view of Pinter on the feature of drama.Section one rheological factors of Pinter's view on drama function,Pinter's drama functional process changes from the pre-theater independent to political expression.The second explores the concept of functions in Pinter's plays stabilizing factor that no matter how drama functional perspective experienced the change,he always adhere that the theater play a view to explore the reality in the real world.The forth chapter excavated the creative way of Pinter's "Comedy of Menace".The of theater and the function of drama determines the creative way of Pinter's" comedy of menacet".The first section analyzes the specific application of Pinter's dramatic Subtext,pause,silence is Pinter's external expression of vague language,which aims to create a theatrical aesthetic,while creating a menace of terror atmosphere.Section two explores allows the people in the theater to develop freely.Not to advance the concept,not let the in the theater bound by the writer's ideology,so that people can have a free development in the artistic conception of the scope of the writer,it is a new exploration that Pinter designed to promote the normal functions of the theater to be carried out.Section three explains"comedy of menace" how to transform laugh to sad freely.By the accurate understanding of"laugh",Pinter achieve the purpose that using the comedy language in the daily life to show menaces and fear in the real life.The conclusion is a summary of the whole paper.Re-sort the logical relationship the dimensions of Pinter's "Comedy of Menace",and briefly discuss the dramatic of Pinter's theatre under the guidance of the theory of theater of Comedy of Menace.
