The Concept Of The Image

Iconology is a critical study methodology of understanding the meanings of images in Art History, and has an immediate connection with the contemporary Study of Visual Culture. This treatise is based on the analysis of the philosophical fundamental of Iconology which has been scrutinized in purpose on an open critical platform of Visual Culture. In the first section, the argument is based on the Cassirer's philosophy of Symbolic Culture so that to discuss the theoretical approach and philosophical persuasion of Iconology. In the second section, the issue focuses on the value and possibilities of expansion of Iconology in the field of Study of Visual Culture in the comparative view in which Iconology, Semiotics and theory of Ideology are included.
