Critical Interpretation Of The Concept Habitus And The Field Of Art

The concept of"field"which Pierre Bourdieu brought out is according to habitus for configuration system. People have many possible relationships with social by habitus, that happen not only passive, but also active. Because habitus is the construction of the structure. So it supplies the gap between the external analysis such as the analysis of Marxist theory of social reflection and the internal theory such as Structuralism views the text as self-sufficient. From The law of art, this dissertation takes Baudelaire as an example to discuss the strategy operation between the internal of culture and external of social, which in order to explain how Bourdieu points at the original concept of Sartre. His method is taken Art into the field of economic and political power production and exchange, that can be explain the operation of literary field between internal and external. Though the strategies used by Baudelaire, and the spirit of the time and the background of the social, in order to describe the possible condition of the field production ,also to explain the reason why Baudelaire became the person to make the rule of the art field. It reveals the inequality exchange under the guise of symbolic capital. So the theory wants to set up the science explanation of Art. In this background the Art is not the unknown concept but become the production of symbolic capital. The theory of Bourdieu provide a active new way to understand Art, and abandon the myth of creative fetishism.
