Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), which is adhere to the principles of linguistics; lapplies Halliday's system which is seen as a social symbol from the perspective of linguistic; focusing on how language is reflected in the power relations. The theories of CDA are being artificially used to produce and maintain social equality; revealing the hidden ideological discourse. The linguistic research on CDA has became a tool initiated by Halliday and other linguists areas to understand other things (such as social system). Halliday encapsulates the concept featuring three major functions : ideational, interpersonal and textual. Interpersonal function refers to the relationship between human and society, mainly through mood and modality. This thesis is devided into four parts. Firstly, the outline and the supplement of CDA. Secondly, the necessity of critical ciscourse analysis on imperative sentences. Thirdly, the multi-thinking of imperative sentences and power relations. At last, a critical analysis of imperative sentences in dialogues. In this thesis, we make the research through the combination between CDA and the mood theory. In order to reveal the potential meaning and the ideology of imperative sentences in conversation, we analyse the potential dynamic force of imperative sentences in different contexts.
