| Taiwan has undergone the transformation from agricultural society to a commercialized one. During the transformation, the traditional culture in Taiwan has been overwhelmed by the Western cultures. Especially, its influence on the younger generations has been remarkably undermined. As a conscientious guardian for the traditional values, Qijun colored her prose with a lot of traditional Chinese beliefs and values. Due to the masterly skills adopted in her wring, her prose is serving as abridge between the contemporary and traditional Chinese culture.In this thesis, I will concentrate on the analysis of the influence of the traditional Chinese values and the Chinese classic literature on Qijun's prose in an attempt to find out why her prose can enjoy such an ever-lasting popularity. |
