As an essential part of Chinese piano art, the piano music which instrumental is more and more attention from both domestic is arranged from and international music circles. There's no doubt that this kind of is the best in the same field of China as well as imposes great influence on international music because of its strong national characteristics of the age and profound aesthetic connotation.Taking Chinese traditional composition as the object, this thesis is divided into three parts:Part I gives an outline introduction to Chinese piano arrangement from two as introduces the 90 years' history of Chinese piano music, which consists of 5 stages: 1910s-1920s was its initial stage, which involved the simple technique and short structure. Usually, it was only used as the accompaniment of songs. 1930s- 1940s was its mature period with the improvement of its skill, elegance and clarity of its rhyme, terseness of its structure as well as its conspicuous Chinese characteristic. In 1950s, the composition of Chinese piano music developed into its prosperous stage. Many professional composing groups were set up in this period. Meanwhile, the quantity and quality of the music improved a lot and the music reflected the strong Chinese characteristic. When it came to 1960s and 1970s, a large number of adapted piano music appeared which was basing on the Chinese folk songs and music. To some extent, the style of adapting folk songs and music to piano music has fundamentally formed in this period. Since 1980s, Chinese piano music enjoys the diversity. Besides, exploring the new technique and embodying new style have become the noticeable characteristic of this period.Part II gives an outline introduction to Chinese piano arrangement from 4 aspects: title; melody; the structures of Chinese traditional pieces; the characteristics of the harmony.Part III states the musicianship of Chinese piano arrangement, and that of playing piano to imitate the national instrumental is further explained from 3 respects: the performance in order to imitate the traditional instrument; the application of pedals the performance of gracenotes, such as appoggiatura, trill and mordent; the performance of arpeggio; the performance of passages...
