Content: The Dachang Yangge Dance is a kind of Yangge dancing on the squares, which is a kind of group dance performed by Yangge teams. It is one of the grandest and most prosperious performances in North Shaanxi. Its music employed is usually the local folk songs and Qupai of instrumental music with dense local features and distinctive characteristics. Based on present music works and acoustic documents of "Dachang Yangge Dance", this thesis analyzes and concludes the basic musical form, expression technique, music structure, etc. of the music in "Dachang Yangge Dance". At the same time, the thesis explores some of the technical elements involving in the process of polyphonization in order to provide some visual, attachable and practical reference to the music of Yangge Dance in Yulin, North Shaanxi.Chapter 1 is an introduction of Dachang Yangge Dance of Yulin. Firstly, the author introduces the geographic and human landscape of Yulin district from two aspects. On one hand, influenced by the typical geographic condition and natural environment, the tunes of the music in Yulin are boorish, bold and unrestrained. On the other hand, Yangge has a long and profound history in Yulin, which is an indispensable part of the customs and conventions of Yulin district, reflecting the simplicity of the local people. Secondly, this part aims to introduce the vocality part, the content, form, expression, Qupai of the instrumental part and the varieties of percussion instruments of the music applied in Dachang Yangge Dance. Generally speaking, this part has provided a brief introduction of the music in Dachang Yangge Dance.Chapter 2 has analyzed the features of the forms of the music in Dachang Yangge Dance in Yulin. This chapter does an analytic study on the forms of music from the approach of both vocality and instrumental music. Firstly, from the aspect of vocality, folk songs of North Shaanxi are frequently applied. Therefore, the thesis has analyzed the folk songs from five aspects as music form, structural features of tones, tune development, paces and rhythm, and typical singing forms of Yangge Dance music. Then, concerned with the instrumental part, the author has analyzed them from the aspects of tunes, paces, features of Gongdiao structures, paces of percussion instruments and the diversity of the music, etc.Chapter 3 launches a harmonic analysis of the music in Dachang Yangge Dance.Firstly, it concludes the harmonic features of Heterophony of the accompaniment of Suona in Dachang Yangge Dance. In Yulin district, in the heterophony of Suona, harmonic interval is the main harmonic material of the heterophony. What's more, concerned with the influence and restrictions by melodic structure, heterophonic texture and melodic progression patterns, the pentatonic natural interval remains the main patterns. Secondly, the author has described the skillful utilization of harmonic techniques in Heterophony of the accompaniment of Suona in Dachang Yangge Dance. In the performance of Yulin district, fourth and fifth structure and second structure is most frequently employed in the Heterophony. Besides, the linear structure is also employed sometimes.Thirdly, in drum wind structure of Dachang Yangge Dance, Suona remains the main melody. Percussion instruments are usually employed in the accompaniment of main melody. In practical performance, when different instruments play their own roles, Heterophony will appear in the performance, which will enrich the Heterophony of Suona and percussion instruments.Chapter 4 analyzes the polyphonic features of the music of Dachang Yangge Dance. In the framework of multi-layer counterpoints of polyphonic elements in percussions assembles, Suona Qupai, and percussions instruments, the author has a tentative study to analyze the polyphonic elements in the music of Dachang Yangge Dance.Chapter 5 is an analysis of the orchestration features of the music of Dachang Yangge Dance. The analysis is conducted in five aspects. The first part is an conclusion about the band and its organization. In the second part, the author discusses the different roles of the first and second Suona, where the first Suona plays a significant role and the second Suona is to emphasize the melody. In the third part, the authors introduces the instrument assemble form, including the main form, polyphonic themes, leading percussions, and accompaniment form. The fourth part emphasizes the importance of percussion instruments in typical music in Yulin, which not only own a number of expression methods and characteristics, but also hold some typical thematic structures. The percussion instruments have played a fairly important role in the entire music. In the fifth part, author has discussed the proper voices arrangement and thematic structures of the music of Dangchang Yangge Dance, which has made the music richer and much more abundant.The music of Dachang Yangge Dance can be studied and discussed from many aspects. However, the study and investigation from the technique point of view is a brand new study in the field, which has great implications and is of great significance to the future study.
