Gulliver's Travels has been introducing as children's literature for a long time. This has shown the quality of purpose of translation activity. Based on Skopos Theory, this thesis analyzes whether the purpose of translator is embodied in the translated version. The first part of this thesis explains the purpose and methods of the research. The second part generally introduces relating theories such as Skopos theory and creative treason. In the third part, the two Chinese versions of Gulliver's Travels are compared to analyze the reason for translators'creative treason, and explore if the translators'purpose is embodied in the translated version. The research is conducted from the following aspects: word choices, expressions, deletion and revision and notes. Such analysis could explain how translators'purpose, translation receivers, and communicative purpose give influence on the translated version. Conclusion is reached in part four by the comparison and analysis above. By the comparison of two versions, Skopos theory is better understood. However, translators should not rigidly stick to theories. In most circumstances, they should use different skills and methods depending on different background. Knowing the influences of translators'purpose, readers could choose the version they require and enjoy the happiness of reading.
